Amazon Readying a 10 Inch Kindle Fire?

Amazon Kindle Fire has generated a lot of interest in the past few months. The 7 inch tablet is pretty decent and cheap. There are signs that it is slowing down though. So it is no wonder that people are already talking about Amazon bringing the next generation Kindle Fire device to the market. The latest rumors suggest that Amazon is readying a 10 inch Kindle Fire to bring to the market in the third quarter of 2012. As always, DigiTimes is not fully reliable with its stories. But the idea does not sound too far-fetched.

Amazon already has the number Android tablet around in the Kindle Fire. A cheap 10 inch tablet could give Amazon an even better chance of taking sales away from Apple and its iPad. The company does not make any money from Kindle Fire sales as it focuses more on selling its content with the help of its tablets. Will the company use the same strategy for its larger tablet? We will have to wait and see.

Interestingly enough, Apple is rumored to be working on a 7 inch mini iPad. Most experts agree that the Kindle Fire is no match for premium tablets such as the iPad. But Amazon has been smart to target the low-end tablet market to avoid competing directly against Apple. Apple’s upcoming mini-iPad won’t be close to being as cheap as the Kindle Fire. That we know at this point.
